March for Our Lives

Dr. Kenn and the Spiritually Motivated Social Engagement Committee are proud to share the statement below on the March for Our Lives, which was written by the CSL Teen Leadership, Gavin Jornigan, Aisha Ferguson, Imani Shamsuddin, Fern Sandoval, Clara Cohen, and Jade Delgado:

As youth of Centers for Spiritual Living, we stood in silence with the youth of the nation for 17 minutes last week and we will march arm in arm together this Saturday. We paid attention when Emma Gonzalez, a student at the Florida high school–where 17 people were left dead after a mass shooting–called BS on our lawmakers, elected leaders, and the NRA at a rally in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We paid attention because we saw that Emma, like many of her classmates and other students around the country, knows how the Law of Mind works. Emma said,

“To politicians who sit in their gilded houses funded by the NRA telling us that nothing can be done to protect us, we call BS… They say tougher guns laws do not decrease gun violence. We call BS. They say a good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun. We call BS. They say guns are just tools like knives and are as dangerous as cars. We call BS. They say that no laws could have been able to prevent the 100s of senseless tragedies that have occurred and that we are too young to understand how the government works. We call BS.”

Link to full Emma Gonzalez Speech https://youtu.be/ZxD3o-9H1lY

Emma understood what we at Centers for Spiritual Living know and teach–that outside conditions have no power over us, that it is done as we believe, that if we want change, we have to call BS on those outside conditions. She understood that we need to plant a new thought, a new idea; that new thought has power and will bring change. At this moment in history, we are calling BS on old thoughts and demanding new thoughts and new actions.

  • We know, believe and demand that every single person in this country be safe from all gun violence.
  • We know, believe and demand that the youth in our communities, our friends, should not feel afraid when attending school.
  • We know, believe and demand that people of color be protected and better served in areas where firearm violence and death are routine.
  • We know, believe and demand that it is so, and we call BS on any so called political reality that has kept it from happening so far.

It is done as WE believe; it is done now. And so it is.

Blessings to You All,

Dr. Kenn Gordon

Centering Thought

Centering Thought - Abundance flows easily and freely to me

Dear Friend in Spirit,

This Sunday, March 25th join us at The Center for Spiritual Living DC as we come together once again to ground ourselves in the Spiritual Truths that we know will uplift not only our own consciousness but the overall consciousness in the Nation’s capital!

Encouragement

This Sunday, we shall receive an ENCOURAGEMENT from Rev. Alex.

Rev. Alex

When you give or receive how do you give or receive? New Thought teaches that allowing the Divine to flow through us (giving and receiving) enriches our lives. According to Ernest Holmes, (and to experience!) when we give with enthusiasm to any legitimate purpose and lose ourselves in our activity we most freely express joy.

You are cordially invited to hear an ENCOURAGEMENT on this topic from a SPIRITUAL not RELIGIOUS perspective.

Rev. Dr. Raymont Anderson

In his words:
“People talk about the Will of God as being that which God wants for us but once we realize that there is Only One Presence, One Mind, One Will… then we must sit back and consider that our will IS God’s Will. And yet, we have two aspects to this Will, the higher and the lower and we are the ones who choose which “Will” will create. Today, we will consider the impact of this realization and how to more effectively, think, act, and be in alignment with this Higher Will.”

Transforming Fear to Faith

Transforming Fear to Faith

Dear Friend in Spirit,

This Sunday, March 11th join us at The Center for Spiritual Living DC as we come together once again to ground ourselves in the Spiritual Truths that we know will uplift not only our own consciousness but the overall consciousness in the Nation’s capital!

Encouragement

Rev. Alex

This Sunday, we shall receive an ENCOURAGEMENT from Rev. Alex.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

This Sunday we’ll explore transforming our fears to faith, as the above quote made famous by Nelson Mandela (originated by Marianne Williamson) urges us to do.
You are cordially invited to hear an ENCOURAGEMENT on this topic from a SPIRITUAL not RELIGIOUS perspective.

In his words, “Alan W. Watts said that, “Muddy water is best cleared by leaving it alone,” because when left to be, that which clouds the water settles, and the water becomes clear. How often do we stir the waters of our minds with the opinions and desires of anything but truth? We desire to be, do, and have something other than what is right now. We are conditioned to judge in unrighteous ways and by doing this we cloud our perception of truth. Today, let’s leave the muddy water alone and see just how clear our mind truly is!”

Rev. Dr. Raymont Anderson

In his words, “Religious Science is what this philosophy is called and yet many, due to our bad blood with “religion” have a bad taste in our mouths. However, Religion or that of being religious is to have an awareness, a spiritual awareness of self that goes beyond the superficial. It is being bound to the truth of one’s True Self, not bound to a dogma about what and how to believe. It is the intimate relationship with an awareness of yourself as The Self, the Atman and the Brahman are One. Religious Science is therefore the art of Transmogrification.”

7. Ahimsa (nonviolence) with my Adversary I vow to help my adversary avoid all suffering, especially from our confrontation.
8. Trusteeship and Constructive Action Beyond personal necessities, I see myself as God’s trustee over my possessions and talents. I promise to use them to empower others and make things fair for all.
