WINTER BREAK EXTENDED

Amid all the fears, quarantines and stockpiling of food, it has been easy to ignore the fact that more than 60,000 people have recovered from the coronavirus.
– U.S. News & World Report 3.12.2020

Given that the DC government has declared a public health emergency, we are cancelling the visioning we had scheduled for Sunday, March 15. Let us as community come together for a process of intensive self-exploration in the face of the situation in the world around us. Let us raise our awareness and create mutual support and collaboration. We can ground ourselves in our vision of a world that works for everyone. As soon as the visioning has been re-scheduled, we’ll let you know.

🌺 Happy Day of Love & Friendship! 🌺

At the Center we are still on winter break (visioning on March 15!) but I could not resist the urge to share the above beautiful video from our friend Nimo. And what a wonderful opportunity to reassure you that I love you, that the Center can be reborn with enough community members stepping forward to help offer these amazing teachings here in Washington, DC. Peace & blessings!

Letter from Amy Perry

Spiritual Living in DC

We imagine and then we become poster.

With an understanding of Spirit as the an act of co-creation with our own consciousness, we can ask the question, “Does what I am thinking support the life I am trying to create?” If not, I have some internal work to do which requires considerable self-examination. As we become more aware of our conscious thoughts, we can create more joy in our life!

Spiritual Practitioner Ayodele McClenney will share her thoughts on this topic this Sunday. We’ll also hear a POWER TALK from Sheila Alexander-reid!

We meditate before service from 10- 10:45. All are welcome!

Getting Grounded
"Contemplation is waiting patiently for the gaps to be filled in, and it does not insist on quick closure or easy answers"

Love & Light

Welcome back! We are free to start our lives over each day, each moment. This thing called a new year is certainly convenient for hitting the re-set button. We ask ourselves, how do I want to show up in the world in 2020? Let’s vision together, sit and stand and walk in spiritual community as spiritual family.

🚲 The Year of 2020 Vision 🌄

Fire with sunset

As we welcome a new decade, we continue co-creating a WORLD that works for everyone by first creating the Life that works for ourselves individually, a life of Love, Abundance, Balance, Wisdom and Freedom. In our spiritual community, we share our unique and wonderful personalities and gifts to co-create a spiritual community that works for all of us. For 2020, let’s pledge to explore how we do this in an atmosphere of collaboration and cooperation.

During our time together this Sunday, Spiritual Practitioners Joanne Hepworth and Amy Perry will lead us in a beautiful ritual for letting go of what no longer serves us and affirming a vision for 2020. With music by Spiritual Practitioner Norm Hogeland!

We meditate before service from 10- 10:45. All are welcome!

Many thanks to anyone who donated to our holiday project for families in DC served by our sister nonprofit TERRIFIC. Shown below is DeAnna Nara delivering some of the gifts you provided!

If you have made a donation to the Center recently, awesome! We need your assistance to continue providing spiritual tools for personal and global transformation. The Center for Spiritual Living is a 501(c)3. This means that any gifts you make to your spiritual home (if we are your spiritual home!) are tax deductible. Since 2013 we have been offering classes, weekly Sunday services and meditation and sending teens to camp. There is no doubt that we are a powerful force for good in what many consider to be the most powerful city in the world. Are you able to send a end of year donation? Thank you so much!

2 Ladies at Christmas

❄ Tidings of Joy! ❄

The 7 stages of Hanuka. Umoja, Kujichagulia, Ujima, Ukamaa, Nia, Kuumba, Imani.

Tidings of Joy!

Let’s take in a nice deep breath together, as we take in eons worth of Joy and Love for this holiday season – joy for all faiths. Another deep breath, we breathe in and into the Light.

Immersed in Light we know this is the Way, the Truth and our Life. It is All that Is. In this place No Thing exists but the Light. We can call the Light God, Yahweh, Quan Yin, Buddha, Vishnu – names aren’t really important. It’s the experience, the deep connection in the Oneness of It all.

We are that. We are the Way, we are Truth, and most certainly we are Light. The more we drop our attachment to our human situations, the more we experience ourselves as this Truth.
We rest in this Space. We revel in It. We are it!

The Christ/Buddha Conscious isn’t coming. It’s here. It’s now. And with every conscious breath. Every aware action, It expands and multiplies.

Please join us this Sunday to hear a talk by Spiritual Practitioner Terry Oliver in the Spirit of the season.

❄ Happy Solstice! ☀

Winter Solstice is the “earth’s” celebration of MORE light coming into the world. Many native peoples throughout all time were concerned when daylight was diminishing day by day as they headed into winter. And then, a day came with more sunlight than the day before. Holly-lueah!..the light is returning. If the sun was your only evidence of a caring, loving God, you would appreciate this return.

During our time together this Sunday, Spiritual Practitioner Amy Perry will lead us in celebrating the Winter Solstice.

This holiday season I celebrate the birth of the Christ principle within me. I nurture this principle, and care for it, so that it successfully grows within me, making me into a most excellent example of itself.

For the holidays, we are partnering with TERRIFIC Inc., a 40 year old 501(c)3 nonprofit tax-exempt housing and support service organization. Daily, TERRIFIC plans and delivers direct-care senior and caregiver services. This holiday season we will be supporting Multi-Generational Families. DeAnna Nara has found three families that have these requests:
1. The Petris family would like a coat for their 16 year old daughter
2. The Blackwell family would like coats, hats, gloves, a doll & legos for their boy & girl, ages five & six
3. The Holley family would like coats, puzzles, dolls, games & toys for their girls ages one and five and their boys ages six, 11 and 14. Their 11 year old son would also like books.
Please contact DeAnna (DeAnnaNara@yahoo.com / 240.315.3778) with any questions & feel free to bring gifts to service through the end of the year. !Gracias!
