Dear Friend in Spirit –

The Center is at a critical juncture. We no longer have the funds to continue offering weekly activities without increased financial support. It’s perfect that our topic this Sunday is Abundance!

And perfect that this Sunday is our Grand Re-Opening in the heart of DC. Please plan to celebrate with us after service.

Are you open to the abundance of the universe? Let us affirm together:

I am grateful that the Universe provides.

I welcome the giving and receiving of the blessings of Spirit.

I am grateful to be an open vessel ready to accept the bounties of my Source.

Reverend Michele Synegal returns to bless us with a talk on this topic. Special musical guests Sounds of Love from Baltimore!

Circulation- Participating in the Natural Spiritual Order of Never Ending Flow

We are so grateful for your financial support here at the Center! It is the nature of the Divine One to simultaneously give and receive. By emulating this quality of inward and outward flow, we reveal our own true spiritual nature. Both our physical and emotional health thrive when we balance the acts of taking in and giving out. To understand why, just imagine inhaling without exhaling, or exhaling without inhaling. Donations are tax deductible and funds are used entirely for expenses approved by the Center’s Leadership Council. Thank you for helping us to uplift consciousness in the capital!

Presence of God

A realization of the Presence of God is the most powerful healing agency known to the mind of man.

Dear Friend in Spirit –

Do you believe that you see (or will see) that for which you look? One of the pioneers of the New Thought movement in the U.S., Ernest Holmes, tells us:

Love (God) is within us. It cannot be destroyed. It can be ignored.

To the extent that we abandon love we will feel it has abandoned us.

Today let us choose to see the Divine in the mirror and in each other. Rev. Sherrie Quander will share thoughts on this topic this Sunday.

With music by Sahffi and prayers by New Thought Practitioners Joshua Payne and Maxine Clair.

We meditate before service from 10 – 10:45. All are welcome!

Mindfulness optimism relax harmony concept poster

Dear Friend in Spirit –

There is so much going on in DC right now! And in the world…. it’s so easy to feel overloaded. If your mind is FULL we invite you to join us this Sunday for a talk by yours truly on MINDFULLNESS. Although it’s quite the buzzword these days, it’s also an ageless spiritual practice. About mind, Dr. Ernest Holmes wrote:
“So plastic is mind, so receptive, that the slightest thought makes an impression upon it. People who think many kinds of thought must expect to receive a confused manifestation in their lives. If a gardener plants a thousand kinds of seeds, he will get a thousand kinds of plants: it is the same in mind.”

We’ll hear music by New Thought Practitioner Norm Hogeland. And a Power Talk by Leadership Council Member Mary D’Amato.

Divine Presence

Distant Mountains

Dear Friend in Spirit –

How is your state of mind these days?

Seva means “selfless service” in the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit. On a personal level, seva can be thought of as those acts of service we do for other people with no personal gain in mind. Typically, this would refer to acts of volunteering for charitable causes. However, the spiritual practice of seva refers to the state of mind with which we perform an action in the world, a state of mind founded in dedicating and surrendering our actions to the Divine One. Ultimately, then, seva is the attitude of selflessness with which we engage in any activity, including those that form our daily work routine.
This Sunday New Thought Practitioner Joanne Hepworth will share her thoughts on the Divine Presence. Our Music Director Deletta Gillespie returns to delight us with her songs.

Our Thoughts are Prayers

Flowers Lake Mountain

Dear Friend in Spirit –

Prayer, in the common use of the word, is an act of communicating with God by speaking out loud or by silently using directed thought. Prayers can also be sung. Often the purpose of the communication is to ask for something for oneself or someone else: an outcome, a change in circumstances, an increase in possessions, awareness. Affirmative prayer is a specific type of prayer that departs from the idea of asking God to do anything on anyone’s behalf. Instead, affirmative prayer is a mental exercise one actively engages in to realign one’s thought with the true, good nature of Divine Reality. In this way, affirmative prayer is a practice of thoughtfully aligning with Reality by affirming it.
This Sunday New Thought Practitioner Terry Oliver will share her thoughts on Prayer. Musical Guest Patricio Zamorano returns to delight us with his songs.

Divine Ideas are Currency

Group of people with the letters "Julies Angels"

Dear Friend in Spirit –

Do you know Julie? She is a beloved community member whom we are supporting in various ways. She recently shared this note:

I was deeply touched when my boss [at the Four Seasons Hotel] called to tell me that the Rooms Division Team at the hotel wanted to create a team, in my honor, for our annual Race to Beat Cancer on Saturday, September 15, 2018. Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts worldwide has been raising funds for cancer research since 1980 when our Founder was inspired by Terry Fox’s run across Canada to raise funds for research. Terry Fox was diagnosed with bone cancer at age 17 and passed away at age 22 after an incredible feat and profound courage. For many years, Four Seasons Hotels worldwide raised funds for this Foundation. Over the years, the focus has changed to local support. Our Race to Beat Cancer benefits (100%) the Washington Cancer Institute at Washington MedStar Hospital Center.

I am not certain that I will be able to attend, as my third chemo treatment will be on Wednesday, September 12th, but I am going to do my darndest! If I go, I will walk a bit and cheer everyone on! Gene is also registered.

If you feel called to walk or run or to donate, this is an opportunity. Please follow the link
https://runsignup.com/Race/32813/Donate/3C3PB2k24viH69zw#.W4SXoh9Ez_8.email

In any and all cases, I thank you so much for your support, love and prayers. I never thought that I would be in situation that I am in…one never knows. I know that my treatment is in part a result of much successful research and that I and many others are having an easier time in some ways during chemo because of this research.

I cannot thank you enough. Please know that you are in my prayers daily.

Don’t Take it Personally!

Hands in different colors

Dear Friend in Spirit –

A wise teacher once said:

If someone is not treating you with love and respect, it is a gift if they walk away from you. If that person doesn’t walk away, you will surely endure many years of suffering with him or her. Walking away may hurt for a while, but your heart will eventually heal. Then you can choose what you really want. You will find that you don’t need to trust others as much as you need to trust yourself to make the right choices.

If you keep this agreement, you can travel around the world with your heart completely open and no one can hurt you. You can say, “I love you,” without fear of being ridiculed or rejected. You can ask for what you need. You can say yes, or you can say no — whatever you choose — without guilt or self-judgment. You can choose to follow your heart always. Then you can be in the middle of hell and still experience inner peace and happiness. You can stay in your state of bliss, and hell will not affect you at all.

Come and join us on Sunday at 10 a.m. for meditation and 11 a.m. for a transcendent service that guarantees to warm your heart, inspire your imagination and give wings to your dreams. My talk will address the agreement to not take things personally. We’ll hear MUSIC by Deletta Gillespie and PRAYERS by New Thought Practitioner Terry Oliver.
