Refugee Protest

Dear Friend in Spirit –

We’re here to remember who we are and whose we are! Please join us this Sunday for a talk by yours truly on healing trauma and improving relationships. The U.S. border is calling for prayer right now. I offer this prayer from the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart:

Christ, we hear you knocking at the door in the voices of those seeking asylum; they call out to us for compassion, for justice.

Will we hear you, will we respond to the least of these who have left their homes out of despair, who traveled with only hope to sustain them.

Christ, you are with these migrants in their suffering; you call us to be with them also, to be present to their need.

Give us the courage to open doors, to offer welcome to those who have been created in your image, to those who are your children, blessed with human dignity that has so often been disrespected and denied.

Christ, we hear you knocking at the door, we see you in the faces of the caravan, we know your mercy extends to them like water in a parched border land.

May we be moved to see as you see, to be merciful as you have been to us. May we open our hearts, tear down the walls and receive your beloved ones as our sisters and brothers.

Our musical guest this Sunday is Sahffi

We meditate before service from 10 – 10:45. All are welcome!

Dear Friend in Spirit –

We’re here to help you find love and meaning during the holiday season (and always)! Please join us this Sunday for a talk by Reverend Michele Synegal, Chair of the Centers for Spiritual Living global Diversity Inclusion Commission. In her words:

The giver understands that life is a giving process. Thus her subtle motivation in all her ways is to give herself away, in love and in service.

Someone wants to kiss you

CSLDC Members

Dear Friend in Spirit –

Right now there are Tibetan Buddhist monks in a temple in the Himalayas endlessly reciting mantras for the cessation of your suffering and for the flourishing of your happiness.
Someone you haven’t met yet is already dreaming of adoring you.
Someone is writing a book that you will read in the next two years that will change how you look at life.
Nuns in the Alps are in endless vigil, praying for the Holy Spirit to alight the hearts of all of God’s children.
A farmer is looking at his organic crops and whispering, “nourish them.”
Someone wants to kiss you, to hold you, to make tea for you.
Someone is willing to lend you money, wants to know what your favorite food is, and treat you to a movie. Someone in your orbit has something immensely valuable to give you — for free.
Something is being invented this year that will change how your generation lives, communicates, heals and passes on.
The next great song is being rehearsed.
Thousands of people are in yoga classes right now intentionally sending light out from their heart chakras and wrapping it around the earth.
Millions of children are assuming that everything is amazing and will always be that way.

Many thanks to Mary Standing Otter for the prose and Barry Hobbs for the above photo! You can contact him at BarryHobbs10@gmail.com

As we enter the holiday season some of us experience depression or know others who experience it. Indeed, some of us have experienced sadness in a prolonged way, not just during holidays. At the Center we know that getting in touch with our true nature will always help in bringing more happiness and fulfillment. Please join us this Sunday for my talk on The Will to Live.

We’ll hear music from Teporah, a power talk from New Thought Practitioner Terry Oliver and Prayers from New Thought Practitioner Amy Perry.

We meditate before service from 10 – 10:45. All are welcome!

Vision for our Future

Vision for our Future

Dear Friend in Spirit –

This past Sunday community members joined together to vision for our future. The above drawing reflects the “download” received by DeAnna Nara. Practitioner Joshua Payne summarized other downloads:

I found the visioning opening, and feeling into the potentiality as a Center and individually. I invited participants to write their answers on paper and I will put them together in a scrapbook, and continue the practice with each session forward. The VISIONING book will sit on a table outside of service during services.

There were a few pictures and ideas that came forth that I’d thought I’d share for you to bring into your meditations (feel free to add to it)
Highest Vision: A tree, as a symbol (tree of life)
A CSL DC community center, where beyond service on Sundays there’s yoga, a wellness studio, etc

We release: limitation/ fear
We embrace:
(this one sparked a good conversation afterward as it came through a few) Value and identity — as in What is the value of CSL DC? or What are the values of CSL DC? What is the identity of CSL DC?

These I feel are the seeds of the beginning to rebirth a Vision and Mission statement and great questions to bring into a contemplative meditation.

This Sunday we’ll hear a talk from Life Coach and Leadership Council Member Mary D’Amato. She’ll speak about gratitude as an experience. With music by Teporah!

Enjoy your extra hour this Sunday as we turn back the clock! Feel free to arrive anytime between 10 a.m. (meditation) and 12:30 p.m. (community visioning!) and you are sure to receive wonderful spiritual fulfillment.

Practitioner Terry Oliver will speak to us at 11 about Friendship, Fallbacks and Forgiveness. In the words of Ernest Holmes:

“Life is good and God is good.
Why not accept this and begin to live? No man need prepare to meet his God, he is meeting Him every day and each hour in the day. He meets him in the rising Sun, in the flowering stream, in the budding rose, in the joy of friendship and love, and in the silence of his own soul.”

Music by Sahffi! We meditate before service from 10 – 10:45. All are welcome!

Colorful Flowers

Dear Friend in Spirit –

The Center is at a critical juncture. We no longer have the funds to continue offering weekly activities without increased financial support. It’s perfect that our topic this Sunday is Abundance!

And perfect that this Sunday is our Grand Re-Opening in the heart of DC. Please plan to celebrate with us after service.

Are you open to the abundance of the universe? Let us affirm together:

I am grateful that the Universe provides.

I welcome the giving and receiving of the blessings of Spirit.

I am grateful to be an open vessel ready to accept the bounties of my Source.

Reverend Michele Synegal returns to bless us with a talk on this topic. Special musical guests Sounds of Love from Baltimore!

Circulation- Participating in the Natural Spiritual Order of Never Ending Flow

We are so grateful for your financial support here at the Center! It is the nature of the Divine One to simultaneously give and receive. By emulating this quality of inward and outward flow, we reveal our own true spiritual nature. Both our physical and emotional health thrive when we balance the acts of taking in and giving out. To understand why, just imagine inhaling without exhaling, or exhaling without inhaling. Donations are tax deductible and funds are used entirely for expenses approved by the Center’s Leadership Council. Thank you for helping us to uplift consciousness in the capital!

Presence of God

A realization of the Presence of God is the most powerful healing agency known to the mind of man.

Dear Friend in Spirit –

Do you believe that you see (or will see) that for which you look? One of the pioneers of the New Thought movement in the U.S., Ernest Holmes, tells us:

Love (God) is within us. It cannot be destroyed. It can be ignored.

To the extent that we abandon love we will feel it has abandoned us.

Today let us choose to see the Divine in the mirror and in each other. Rev. Sherrie Quander will share thoughts on this topic this Sunday.

With music by Sahffi and prayers by New Thought Practitioners Joshua Payne and Maxine Clair.

Dear Friend in Spirit –

There is so much going on in DC right now! And in the world…. it’s so easy to feel overloaded. If your mind is FULL we invite you to join us this Sunday for a talk by yours truly on MINDFULLNESS. Although it’s quite the buzzword these days, it’s also an ageless spiritual practice. About mind, Dr. Ernest Holmes wrote:
“So plastic is mind, so receptive, that the slightest thought makes an impression upon it. People who think many kinds of thought must expect to receive a confused manifestation in their lives. If a gardener plants a thousand kinds of seeds, he will get a thousand kinds of plants: it is the same in mind.”

We’ll hear music by New Thought Practitioner Norm Hogeland. And a Power Talk by Leadership Council Member Mary D’Amato.
